Interested in meeting with us to discuss any educational barriers and potential accommodations? It’s easy! Just follow these steps below:
Submit the Student Application
Prior to your initial meeting, please submit the Student Application online by signing onto the SDAC online services portal. Complete the Student Application and provide any available documentation that indicates a history of a disability diagnosis. These steps will save you time later.
IMPORTANT: Please note that you should not delay meeting with us out of concern for not having the right paperwork. Each coordinator will discuss specific third party documentation needs during the initial meeting and steps you can take after the meeting. Our first priority is meeting with you, not reviewing the paperwork.
Schedule an Appointment
Email SDAC@virginia.edu, call 434-243-5180, or visit our office to schedule an appointment. Appointments last approximately 30 - 60 minutes. If you are not sure that you have a disability or would like to be screened for a Learning Disability and/or ADHD, then let our staff that know that when you are making the appointment.
During the initial meeting, an accommodation coordinator will discuss with you the barriers you are experiencing, reasonable accommodations to address the barriers and your next steps. Our goal is to keep the meeting relaxed and comfortable.
At the beginning of every semester, students receiving accommodations with SDAC need to sign onto the SDAC online services portal to select applicable accommodations and send out Faculty Notification Letters via email. Professors will only be notified of the accommodations requested for that particular course.
Questions or Concerns at Any Point in the Semester
We know that questions, challenges and concerns may arise. The accommodation coordinator you met with initially would be happy to answer any follow-up questions. Please do not wait too long to address a concern; we would rather know earlier than later.
Don’t remember who you met with? You can log into SDAC Online Services to obtain the accommodation coordinator's name and contact information. You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, call 434-243-5180, or stop by our office.
